Upper Deck's Mystery Dual Cut Program Creating Heightened Levels of Excitement in the Hobby
First Three Prize Cards Registered Over the Holidays
Carlsbad, CA - (January 3, 2008) - Approximately two weeks ago, Upper Deck announced an amazing new enhancement to the 2007 MLB Ultimate Collection, 2007 MLB UD Black and 2007 MLB Exquisite Rookie Signature products. Collectors could find exchange cards randomly inserted in these brands for some amazing dual autograph cards from famous deceased personalities. What makes the promotion so exciting is that the first collectors to pull these rare cards would get to choose which of these one of a kind cards they would like to receive.
The promotion caused collectors to immediately wonder, "Who would I pick?" With the list of personalities on the cards so compelling, the first lucky winners have definitely had a hard time making that decision. Steve O. was the third collector who pulled the cards and he found the decision very difficult before deciding on the John F. Kennedy & Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis card. Steve O. shared, "After realizing what I had, I had to take the day off from work just to call friends and try to figure it out. This is the best card I have pulled in 30 plus years of collecting."
Erick L. was the second collector to pull one of these prize cards from a pack of 2007 MLB UD Black that he purchased at a card show. Erick L. said, "I really didn't realize what I had until I went to the register it and saw the list of cards available. I couldn't believe it. I spent the whole night thinking about it and actually even dreamt about it." He said that he ultimately could not pass up the chance to own an autograph card of Babe Ruth and Roger Maris together.
Ben M. was the first lucky collector to pull one of the cards from 2007 MLB UD Black at On Deck Sportscards in Lawrenceville, GA. He chose the Marilyn Monroe & John F. Kennedy card after some deliberation. Jim Grant of Peach State Sports Distribution sold the product to the store and said, "Nobody realized what it was right off the bat. Now that these cards are being discovered, it seems to be creating a lot of excitement for 2007 MLB UD Black and 2007 MLB Exquisite Rookie Signatures in particular. Collectors seem to really love this innovative idea and people want to know when the next one will be discovered."
