Donruss announced that it will utilize a new anti-counterfeiting system created by Eastman Kodak on selected high-value trading cards. The first cards to feature the Kodak Traceless system will debut next week and feature invisible markings that can only be detected with a Kodak Traceless reader. “The Traceless system provides an easy method to distinguish genuine Donruss products from fakes, ensuring our customers an authentic product,” said Bill Sawtelle, VP of quality assurance for Donruss. “Our cards are unique because they contain actual game-used artifacts, so the value of the card really depends on its authenticity. The system will help us limit the ability to counterfeit cards.” “By introducing an invisible component to the card that the counterfeiters can’t find, our advanced technology gives Donruss trading cards a strong defense and eliminates a counterfeiter’s ability to make cheap replicas,” said Steve Powell of Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. According to the Kodak website, the Traceless system is being used by a wide range of companies, including pharmaceuticals, apparel and cosmetics makers, identification documents and premium wineries. |
